Juneteenth is a celebration of hope, where we honor the memory of June 19, 1865. After 2.5 years of slavery, the near quarter of a million slaves in Texas finally heard the news of the Emancipation Proclamation and were freed.

To understand the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, you must understand the past. Repeating the past is every country’s nightmare, but one cannot repeat the past when the injustices that ruled the world then still exist now.

The 19th Amendment grants women the right to vote. This can be seen as a large stepping stone towards the fight for women’s equality that continues today.
